Walt Disney The Entrepeneur
As Entrepreneurs, my wife and I look for and find inspiration from so many people, living or dead. In my opinion, there is no greater inspirational entrepreneur than Walt Disney.
Walt had a dream so big, that people thought he was crazy. They laughed when he wanted to create an animation studio, but he did it bigger and better than even he first sought out to do. They really laughed when he wanted to create what was to become the first-of-its-kind theme park, but he did it so detailed, and so grand, that the world demanded more.
Walt's influence not only changed animation in a major way, but it also changed movie studios, network television, world fairs, and of course theme parks. Just to name a few.
Our fascination in Walt's story is his relentless pursuit of his dream. He never took "no" for an answer. Of course, he had his brother, Roy, to make it all happen financially. That's a much bigger deal than Roy is usually given credit for. But Walt had an indominable spirit about his work, that sets him apart from most.
He absolutely loved what he did. Something we've learned recently is that if you don't love what you're working on, your chances of failure increase dramatically.
What we learned from Walt
1 - Find something you love and build a skillset around that thing.
2 - Work relentlessly to achieve your goals. Reaching goals makes dreams come true
3 - Never take "no" for an answer. When there's a will, there's a way.
4 - Push through the hard times. They will come. Resilience is key.
